Android 9 Pie update is coming soon for Galaxy S8 and S8+

It seems the waiting is over for Galaxy S8 and S8+ users. Samsung begins registrations for Beta of One UI for Galaxy S8 series and some users from India reported that they have received the first Beta of One UI weighing about 1.6 GB.

Galaxy S8 and S8+ flagships arrived in March 2017 and received the Android Oreo update in January 2018. The next big update for these flagships is Android 9 Pie which was released by Google officially in August 2018.

Samsung started developing Pie for its devices soon after the release of Stable version by Google. One UI is the user interface developed by Samsung, inspired by Pie’s Gesture Interface, Dark mode and App preview interface. Galaxy S9 and S9+ got the first taste of One UI back in December 2018, now Galaxy S8 and S8+ users are going to receive One UI. Most of the goodies present in stock android may come with the One UI update.

Dark Mode

One of the most awaited features of Android users is system-wide Dark Mode. Google is still developing full dark mode to include it in Android Q. However, Samsung is one step ahead and is rolling out dark mode with One UI for Note 8 and S9. Messages, dialor, App launcher, Quick Settings and Settings app appear with Dark theme in Android Pie. As One UI designed to promote single-handed use, options and menu appear in bottom half of the screen in most of the revamped apps. It’s no doubt that One UI with Dark mode improves battery life of S8 and S8+ devices with Super AMOLED dsiplays.
