Android Oreo hits LG G5 in Canada on September 12th, on the way to the US
After a long wait of nearly one year, LG is about to start the rollout of Android Oreo for G5 devices in North America. The famous Canadian Carrier, Rogers updated their Oreo rollout page, so the rollout of Oreo for their G5 devices will begin on September 12th.
The South Korean tech giant launched G5 with pre-installed Marshmallow and later updated it to Android Nougat, now the Oreo update which is the last major update is coming. Earlier this month, the G5 devices in South Korea receivef the Android 8.0 update.
We hearing some users in Canada already updated their G5 phones to Oreo through LG Bridge. But as OTA rollout is beginning in a few hours, we recommend users to wait for that official OTA rollout.
As the US carrier dosn’t lag much behind Canadian carriers in rolling out the updates, the rollout will also begin in the US shortly. Most likely, by the end of this month, major carriers in the US will be rolling out the update to their G5 devices. The rollout in the UK and India may also begin in the next month.
The update brings standard features of stock Android Oreo with the skin of new LG UI. Picture in Picture mode, Revamped Notifications, New Emoji, Improvements to Doze mode and Strengthened Security are some of the major features of Android Oreo.
