Android Pie based EMUI 9 rollout begins for Huawei Mate 10

A few hours ago, Huawei begins the rollout of Android 9 Pie-based EMUI 9 for Mate 10 devices, shortly after unveiling the Mate 20 series flagships.

According to the screenshot shared by @RTgamer, the Size of the update is 3.94 GB which is massive, indeed. Currently, the dualsim devices with model no. ALP-L29 in Europe are receiving the update, however as this is a phased rollout, devices in other regions should begin receiving very soon.

Till now, Google’s Pixel and Pixel 2 lineups, Essential Phone, Nokia 7 Plus, One Plus 6 and Xperia XZ2 series devices begin receiving the Pie update. Samsung is about to begin the Beta program for Galaxy S9. Now Samsung’s chief rival in Europe, Huawei begins the full Pie rollout with the last year’s Mate 10 flagship.

The company started the EMUI 9 beta program last month in limited regions. EMUI 9 also contain some ‘Made for India’ features exclusively for Indian consumers. GPU Turbo 2.0 feature in EMUI 9 brings about a massive GPU performance improvement and Huawei implements its own Gesture navigation interface identical to Google’s in Pie.

The Digital Wellbeing feature with Parental controls also rollingout to Mate 10 devices with EMUI 9. App actions, App slices and Adaptive Battery are some of the well-known features of Pie-based-EMUI 9.

Which devices next

After Mate 10, most likely Huawei will begin the rollout of EMUI 9 for Mate 10 Pro, and P20 and P20 Pro will also receive the update very soon. Hauwei’s latest flagships Mate 20, Mate 20 Pro, Mate 20 X all come with Android 9 Pie based EMUI 9 out of the box.
