Android Q Beta for Sony Xperia XZ3 and XZ2 : Release and Features

xperia-xz3-android-qXperia XZ3 and XZ2 are currently running on Android 9 Pie and the next update for these flagships is Android Q. Google unveiled the first Android Q Beta on March 13th for Google Pixel series.

According to the reports from reliable sources, the Search Giant is going to include more tech giants and devices in Android Q Beta program, this year. So it seems that along with Xperia 1, most likely, Sony will rollout the Beta for Xperia XZ3 and XZ2 too.

When will Android Q Beta arrive for Sony devices ?

The Search Giant is planning to release five more Betas in coming months, before the release of final version in Q3. Undoubtedly, Google will release more stable Beta with bug fixes at I/O 2019 in May. The developer team may also add some elegant features in upcoming Beta.

So, Sony may release the stable Beta for its Xperia flagships in May, very soon after Google released it at the I/O event. So in mid-May or late-May, the Japanese tech giant may begin the rollout of Beta for the registered Xperia XZ3 and XZ2 users.

What’s new in Android Q ?

Google improved security and privacy options a lot with revamped permissions in Android Q. Users can check each permission for specific app and restrict them if necessary.

Most awaited Dark mode feature will make its way to Android smart phones with the Android Q update. The early build leaked through XDA developers shown us a system-wide dark mode which decrease eye strain a lot. However, in the first Beta the feature didn’t appear, so probably, it will come with second or third beta.

Desktop mode is another exciting feature of Android Q. In our digging inside Beta, we have found the mode under Developer options. With Desktop mode, users can connect their device to a monitor or screen and get real PC experience. The feature is already available in Samsung flagships.
