HTC U11 and U12 to get the Android Pie update soon
Android Pie is the successor of Android Oreo and 9th major iteration of the most popular smartphone OS. Currently HTC U11 and U12 Plus devices are running on Android 8.0 Oreo and the next big update for these flagships is Android 9 Pie.
Till now, Google released Five developer previews of Android P for the Pixel lineup. Recently, the fifth and final preview arrived on July 25th for Pixel devices. Finally on August 6th, the Search Giant released the final version of Android 9 under the codename Pie. Soon after the release of Pie, HTC announced that U11, U11+ and U12 devices will receive the Android Pie update, but didn’t share any specific timeline.
So hTC U11 and U12 Plus users have to wait for some time to get the update as HTC will add custom sense UI and also some tweaks before the rollout of the update. Previously, the Taiwanese tech giant took about 90 days to start the rollout of Android 8.0. This time, things may get better due to Project Treble of Oreo. So HTC may pushout the Android Pie update for U11 and U12 users in late-October or somewhere in November.
The Android 9 Pie rollout may hit unlocked HTC U12+ devices first and later spread to the unlocked editions of U11 and U11 Plus. The US carriers like Verizon, AT&T, T-Mobile might begin the rollout sometime in Q4 of 2018.
